William Piniarski (Will)
Head of Internet Operations | Webmaster | Volunteer Coordination
Responsible for making sure kathygriffin.net stays on-line and for
improvement and expansion, as well as for the organization of all
of the volunteers of all of the sites, whom we all owe so much to.
Will is the face behind Kathy's internet presence.
Will, what is your official job description?
Apart for making sure the server doesn't explode, I am Kathy's webmaster and internet consultant.
When and where did you meet Kathy for the first time?
Much like Tiffany's my appointment was subject to luck sprinkling with a little timing. After seeing an episode of The D-List season one, I noted how funny it was when Kathy got stuff for free. I emailed and offered our servers to Kathy at no charge. Got more than I bargained for and our relationship grew and grew. It was just a matter of timing as Kathy and Jessica were looking to pass on the torch and expand the site.
I work on the east coast (Mass) so I work 100% virtually. As such I did not meet Kathy till she came around on her New England stops. But we must have sent a zillion emails (staff wide) to each other. I must say, I was simply amazed how at ease Kathy made me feel when I finally met her. I am quiet and reserved, but her and the staff are just the most real and nice people you will ever meet. I am very fortunate to, in some small way, call myself a cousin to the main staff and I can not sing enough praises in relation to the experience of working with them.
What is the best part of your job?
The freedom Kathy gives. Kathy and the staff are idea-sponges and I am always free to throw whatever creative ideas may pop-up at them. It is nice to have the little things appreciated.
What is your least favorite part of your job?
Putting out the smoke when the server decides to go on strike. I must have lung cancer from that. I definitely have carpo tunnel.
If someone made a movie about Kathy's life, who would you like
to play you?
Hmmmm....Andy Dick, because he's nothing like me and I'd like to see where he takes my character.
Where did you grow up and go to school?
I grew up in Massachussets and have lived their all my life. I have a great wife and two wonderful kids.
After 12 years of Catholic school (yeah wonderful), I graduated from the University of Hartford in three years and out of the box went on to create what is now one of the oldest website hosting companies on the planet. Just seemed like a good idea at the time. I am also an author, having penned Launch Onto The Web a few years ago (very proud of that as it is not an easy process) as well as some unpublished fictional books. I like to keep busy and do nothing twice.
What are your favorite hobbies or TV shows?
I love movies, science fiction, football, baseball, softball and watching my kids grow up. I believe your job should be your hobby as well, no day should be the same. As far as shows go, my TIVO is smoking. Currently have season passes to Survivor, The Amazing Race, Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, Heroes, Mythbusters, Lost and Chuck. Oh yeah, and The Colbert Report.
